Our Story
CareRestores Foundation was established on a foundational belief: every child deserves to be seen, supported, valued, and given the opportunity to reach their full potential. Through years of professional experience in education and special education, our founder witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by children who learn differently, children with disabilities, children experiencing behavioral or emotional challenges, and children growing up with limited resources and opportunities. Too often, the children who need the most support encounter the greatest barriers. Some children struggle to access academic support. Others require additional developmental, behavioral, or social-emotional support. Families often struggle to find affordable childcare, inclusive educational environments, or the resources their children need to succeed. These barriers should not determine a child's future.
CareRestores Foundation was founded by a PhD-level special education professional and licensed K–12 educator with over 20 years of classroom experience, along with leadership experience as a Special Education Program Director and a background in research on disability inclusion. This combination of professional knowledge, compassion, education, and service forms the foundation of the organization's work. CareRestores' programs began with a focus on meeting children where they are providing encouragement, academic support, emotional support, leadership opportunities, mentoring, and access to essential resources. Through these youth-focused initiatives, children have been given opportunities to build confidence, strengthen academic skills, develop leadership abilities, and receive support for challenges that can affect their ability to learn and thrive. These efforts represent more than individual programs. They are the foundation of a larger vision.
Building a More Inclusive Future
CareRestores Foundation is developing a comprehensive model of support that integrates inclusive education, youth development, family support, academic enrichment, disability inclusion, and access to essential resources. The organization's long-term vision is to establish an inclusive early learning, childcare, and after-school center where children with and without disabilities learn and grow together; where children receive academic enrichment and developmental support; where families access resources and encouragement; and where every child is welcomed for who they are. This center will be designed around the whole child, encompassing academics, care, and disability services as an integrated model rather than separate services.

The name CareRestores reflects the organization's belief that intentional care can help restore hope, confidence, opportunity, and possibility. CareRestores Foundation is building this vision one child, one family, and one community at a time.

Meet the Founder
About Dr. Uzochukwu
Dr. Uzochukwu is the founder of CareRestores Foundation, a faith-based nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring hope, dignity, and opportunity for children and youth of all abilities. She hold a Ph.D. in Special Education and a licensed Exceptional Children Program Administrator/Director with more than 20 years of experience as a public school educator, university instructor, educational consultant, and school leader. Her work has focused on advancing inclusive educational practices, strengthening teacher preparation, and improving outcomes for students. She is equipped with the skills and strategies to plan, develop, and implement effective learning programs to meet the unique needs of her students. She is committed to making a difference in the lives of her students and is dedicated to promoting their academic, social, and emotional growth.
Throughout her work, Dr. Uzochukwu has witnessed firsthand the challenges many children and families face, including behavioral and developmental needs, trauma, and economic hardship. These experiences inspired her to establish CareRestores Foundation, a place where children and youth can feel seen, valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.
Through programs focused on mentorship, social-emotional learning, character development, life skills, community service, and practical family support, Dr. Uzochukwu is committed to helping young people grow academically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. Her vision is to create inclusive programs and safe, supportive spaces that strengthen families, remove barriers to opportunity, and help every child discover their God-given purpose.
Driven by a deep commitment to service and community transformation, Dr. Uzochukwu leads CareRestores Foundation with the belief that every child deserves hope, belonging, opportunity, and the chance to thrive.

1. Augusta Cofield – Board Chair
Augusta has over 20 years of experience as an educator and leads the Board in keeping CareRestores focused on its mission, vision, and strategic priorities.
2. Ikechukwu Uzocjukwu – Vice Chair
Ikechukwu brings 7 years of leadership experience and supports the Board by stepping in when the Chair is unavailable.
3. Helen Nnabuogu – Secretary
Helen oversees governance and records to help ensure strong organizational accountability.
4. Amarara Habour – Treasurer
Amarachi has over 5 years of experience in accounting and financial management and helps strengthen CareRestores’ financial sustainability and stewardship.

Wilma is a seasoned educator with 23 years of experience in early childhood development and quality childcare.

Stella has over 10 years of experience in Family and Consumer Services and helps ensure children of all abilities are welcomed and supported.
7. Modupe Eyaife – Director of Community & Faith Partnerships
Modupe builds relationships with churches, businesses, community organizations, donors, and other partners to support CareRestores’ mission.
